Universal Gateway
The Peripheral Universal Gateway (PUGW) is the main gateway for home or branch-office
users to access voice servers at corporate headquarters using a simple data connection
rather than a standard telephone line. With the capacity to support 240 LAN ports
in any physical location, the PUGW provides full Coral features and functionality
for every Coral Flex-IP user on the system.
By maintaining all peer-to-peer IP voice calls entirely on the network, the PUGW
allows heavy traffic configurations. Your Coral system can support multiple PUGW
cards with load sharing and redundancy capabilities for both media and signalling
data streams.
The PUGW also supports the SIP protocol for end-points and trunks.
Benefits
- Reduces communication costs by sending voice and data over IP networks
- Eliminates the expense and inconvenience of maintaining separate infrastructures
by creating one voice and data "distance carrier".
- Protects investments by consolidating voice and data networks into a single communication
infrastructure
- Ensures a smooth migration to VoIP - PUGW can be installed in any system running
version 14 generic software and above. To enable SIP the system must be on v15 or
above.
- Provides peer-to-peer communication with multiple IP end-points, making home/branch
office phones an integral part of the main phone system.
- Provides redundancy to ensure coverage even during a catastrophic failure of one
connection.
- Enables Hunt Groups, call groups and ACD groups to be independent of wiring and
cable lengths, backing up each other and compensating for varying call loads due
to time zone differences or local call pressures.
